LUAPULA SET TO HOST SECOND INVESTMENT EXPO

Luapula Province is gearing up to host the Second Edition of the Luapula Expo, a major investment and business showcase expected to reposition the province as a prime destination for local and international investors.

Luapula Province Permanent Secretary Prudence Kangwa disclosed the development during the Fourth Quarter Provincial Development Coordinating Committee (PDCC) Meeting held in Mansa on Tuesday, stating that the Provincial Administration has commenced earnest preparations to revive the Expo, last hosted in 2017.

Mrs. Kangwa said the Expo is tentatively scheduled for 17th to 21st April, 2026, with Mansa’s Kaole Stadium earmarked as the preferred venue to accommodate exhibitors under one roof through the erection of marquees, enhancing coordination and visibility.

She explained that the proposed programme will include three days of exhibition, one day for travel and another for demobilisation, adding that Mansa was chosen due to its central location and improved accommodation capacity, with some delegates expected to be hosted in surrounding districts.

The Permanent Secretary called on all local authorities to urgently submit district-specific priority investment areas, including land availability and detailed product profiles, to support aggressive investor marketing and upcoming advertisements.

Mrs. Kangwa further revealed that the Provincial Administration has already engaged key institutions such as the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC), Zambia Development Agency (ZDA) and other public and private stakeholders, noting that flagship projects including Mununshi Banana Scheme, Kawambwa Tea Estate, ZAFFICO and Green 2000 Farm have expressed strong interest in the Expo.

She emphasized that the Luapula Expo will focus on unlocking opportunities in tourism, energy, agriculture, education and value addition, positioning the province as a competitive investment hub, while encouraging collective ownership of the event by stakeholders within the province.

Mrs. Kangwa assured that more details will be communicated in due course as Government finalises consultations and formally commences the planning process, describing the Expo as a game-changer for Luapula’s economic transformation.
