  Zambia’s High Commissioner to Kenya, Mr. Alfred Musemuna, has commended Kenya for the significant strides it has made in digital transformation and education systems, urging a Zambian delegation currently on a study tour to maximise the learning opportunity and strengthen bilateral cooperation between the two countries. ZAMBIA AND TANZANIA AGREE ON SECURITY MEASURES

Zambia and Tanzania have agreed on a number of security measures to tackle transnational organised crimes across the common border. The two countries have also pledged to enhance corporation and enhance their bilateral ties. Ministry of Defence Permanent Secretary Mr Maambo Haamaundu says implementing a set of strategies agreed at the 4th Session of the Tanzania-Zambia Joint Permanent Commission on Defence and Security will enhance peace and security in the two countries. Mr Haamaundu said the highest offices in the two countries want to see the full implementation of the agreed strategies. The Zambian Premier League strongly condemns the acts of violence that occurred  at Nkholoma Stadium following the league fixture between Red Arrows and Power Dynamos. Football is a unifying sport that brings communities together, and there is absolutely no place for violence, hooliganism, or any form of misconduct before, during or after the match. The behaviour witnessed is deeply regrettable and goes against the values of respect, integrity, and fair play that the League upholds. The League has since instituted a full investigation into the matter in collaboration with relevant authorities and match officials. MINISTER OF INFRASTRACTURE URGES SPEEDY OF KATETE CHANIDA ROAD PROJECT

Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development Minister, Hon. Eng. Charles Lubasi Milupi, has called on the Concessionaire undertaking works on the Katete-Chanida Road in Eastern Province to accelerate progress on the project. During a tour of the road today, Hon. Milupi emphasized the strategic importance of the Katete-Chanida Road, describing it as vital to boosting Zambia’s economy through trade and commerce. “This is a critical road, with about 70 percent of the full stock from the Port of Beira transported via this route. To grow the economy, we must strengthen trade with our neighbors, and that requires efficient road connectivity,” he said. MORE THAN K19 MILLION OF 2026 CDF TO BE SPENT ON COMMUNITY PROJECTS

  Government has approved sixteen (16) community projects for implementation using the 2026 Constituency Development Fund CDF in Lumezi this year at a cost of K19,902,581.36 The Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development through the Provincial Local Government Office has approved the projects pursuant to Cabinet Office Circular Minute Number CMO1 of 2023   and in accordance with Section 4(c) of the Constituency Development Fund Act Number 1 of 2024. The approved projects are drawn from community submissions made last year following consultative processes in Lumezi Constituency. Following the approval, the Local Authority's Procurement Unit will now proceed to call for bids from contractors for the construction and supply of materials under the approved projects. ZAMBIA AND BOTSWANA SIGN KAZUNGULA BRIDGE AUTHORITY HOST COUNTRY AGREEMENT

The Governments of Zambia and Botswana have concluded negotiations for Addendum No. 3 to the Agreement to Sponsor the Construction and Operation of the Bridge Infrastructure at Kazungula.  The latest addendum strengthens the legal and operational framework guiding the management of the Kazungula Bridge. The two countries have agreed to sign a Host Agreement governing the hosting of the Authority in Botswana.  The agreement, entered into between the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, and the Kazungula Bridge Authority, formalises the institutional arrangements and operational presence of the authority in Botswana. TANZANIA AND ZAMBIA COMMIT TO RESOLVE BORDER CHALLENGES

 Zambia and Tanzania have reaffirmed their commitment to addressing operational challenges at the Tunduma/Nakonde One Stop Border post, with the two Ministers from both countries announcing significant progress in resolving long-standing bottlenecks that have hindered the efficient movement of goods and  people. Zambia's Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Hon. Mulambo Haimbe noted that over the past four years, the two countries have grown to handle more than 6 million tons of cargo through the Tunduma/Nakonde border. ZAMBIA WARNS PUBLIC AGAINST UNLAWFUL USE OF MILITARY REGALIA

The Zambia Army has reiterate its earlier warning to the general public against the use, wearing, possession, procuring, importation, or manufacturing of military regalia, or any semblance thereof.  Zambia Army Spokesperson Colonel Sydney Mwewa says despite the joint warning previously issued by the Inspector General of Police Mr Graphael Musamba on 20 December 2024, it has been observed with concern that some individuals have continued to trade in and wear military attire with wanton impunity.  Colonel Mwewa has reminded the public that such conduct constitutes a violation of Section 6 (a) of the State Security Act, Chapter 111 of the Laws of Zambia.  "We therefore wish to warn the public that the Military Police have been given strict instructions to confiscate any military regalia or semblance thereof from trading places, and apprehend any person found contravening this law." Government has handed over 100 cattle to a community in Luapula Province as part of efforts to promote livelihoods that support forest conservation and rural economic growth. Luapula Province Permanent Secretary, Prudence Chinama-Kangwa said the initiative reflects Government’s commitment to ensuring communities directly benefit from protecting natural resources. As the Leader of the Opposition and a servant of the people of Mafinga, it is my duty to objectively assess such addresses, acknowledging where the Executive is charting a correct path for the nation and offering constructive input where necessary. SOCIALIST PARTY DENIES FALSE FUNDING ALLEGATIONS

  The Socialist Party has dismissed as malicious and fabricated a social media article alleging that the party has received or sought funding from businessman Ismail Daya and his associated companies.     In a statement, SP General Secretary Dr Cosmas Musumali stressed that he has never met Ismail Daya or his brother Mohammed Daya and has no knowledge of Gold Star Energy or the other entities named in the publication.     Dr Musumali emphasised that the SP has never solicited, received, or been promised any funding from the Dayas or any business linked to them.     He explained that no discussions, negotiations, or communications of any kind have ever taken place between himself, the SP, and the individuals or companies cited in the story.     The SP General Secretary underlined that the party has never sought funding from any business house and relies instead on its own established support base.     Dr Musumali ...
