ZAMBIA SEEKS STRONGER EDUCATION AND DIGITAL PARTNERSHIPS WITH KENYA FOLLOWING EMIS BENCHMARKING VISIT

Zambia’s High Commissioner to Kenya, Mr. Alfred Musemuna, has commended Kenya for the significant strides it has made in digital transformation and education systems, urging a Zambian delegation currently on a study tour to maximise the learning opportunity and strengthen bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

Speaking when he received a delegation from Zambia’s Ministry of Education led by Director – Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Mr. Victor Musangu, Mr. Musemuna encouraged the team to leverage Kenya’s experience to enhance Zambia’s Education Management Information System (EMIS).

The delegation is in Kenya on a benchmarking visit aimed at strengthening Zambia’s EMIS to improve data management, policy implementation and resource allocation in the education sector.

The High Commissioner underscored the importance of formalising cooperation between Zambia and Kenya through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that would cover key areas in education, including education technology, digital systems and institutional partnerships.

He assured the delegation of the Mission’s full support and commitment to working closely with Zambia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation to facilitate deeper bilateral engagement.

Mr. Musangu said Zambia expects the improved EMIS solution to generate meaningful insights that will guide effective policy implementation and ensure prudent allocation of resources in the education sector.

During the visit, the delegation toured selected public schools in Kenya, where members expressed admiration for the high standards of infrastructure, order and the conducive learning environment.

“We were impressed by the learning environment. The order and seriousness among learners during examinations and learning was remarkable. A proper school environment contributes significantly to learner performance and development,” Mr. Musangu said.

As part of the study tour, the delegation also visited Konza Technopolis to appreciate Kenya’s advancements in digital innovation and smart infrastructure, and to explore opportunities for collaboration in education technology.

The visit is expected to contribute to Zambia’s ongoing education reforms and digital transformation agenda through strengthened Zambia–Kenya cooperation.

This is according to a statement issued by Zambia High Commission in Nairobi in Kenya.
