ZAMBIA WARNS PUBLIC AGAINST UNLAWFUL USE OF MILITARY REGALIA

The Zambia Army has reiterate its earlier warning to the general public against the use, wearing, possession, procuring, importation, or manufacturing of military regalia, or any semblance thereof.

Zambia Army Spokesperson Colonel Sydney Mwewa says despite the joint warning previously issued by the Inspector General of Police Mr Graphael Musamba on 20 December 2024, it has been observed with concern that some individuals have continued to trade in and wear military attire with wanton impunity.

Colonel Mwewa has reminded the public that such conduct constitutes a violation of Section 6 (a) of the State Security Act, Chapter 111 of the Laws of Zambia.

"We therefore wish to warn the public that the Military Police have been given strict instructions to confiscate any military regalia or semblance thereof from trading places, and apprehend any person found contravening this law." Colonel Mwewa says

He emphasises that military regalia is strictly reserved for serving members of the Defence Force of Zambia.

Colonel Mwewa warned that any unauthorised use undermines national security and the dignity of the uniform. The public is therefore strongly advised to desist from this practice forthwith.
