ACCESS BANK ZAMBIA SUPPORTS ZAF EXPO AND MARATHON WITH HALF A MILLION
Access Bank Zambia has contributed K500,000 towards hosting of the Zambia Air Force (ZAF) Expo and Marathon, a flagship initiative aimed at raising K6 million to support the vulnerable, reaffirming the financial institution’s dedication to supporting impactful community initiatives countrywide.
Speaking during the ZAF EXPO and Marathon Media
Breakfast held in Kitwe yesterday, Access Bank Zambia Managing Director Iheanyi
Nwogu said the sponsorship underscores the Bank’s strong belief that meaningful
development is achieved through partnerships that uplift vulnerable communities
and create inclusive opportunities.
“Today,
we are pleased to announce our sponsorship of K500,000 towards the Zambia Air
Force Expo and Marathon. We make this commitment not as sponsors, but as
partners in development, supporting a cause that cuts across our shared vision.
As a regional African brand, Access Bank strives to create lasting impact in
every community we serve. This marathon reflects our own aspirations to drive
positive change, foster inclusivity, and empower people to achieve their best,”
Dr. Nwogu said.
Scheduled for 6 - 7 March 2026 in Ndola, the ZAF
Expo and Marathon is a purpose-driven initiative aimed at raising K6,000,000 to
rehabilitate Mitanda Home for the Aged and procure desks for learners at Ndola
Lions School of the Disabled, interventions which Dr. Nwogu said speak to
restoring dignity, improving learning environments, and strengthening social
support systems for those who need it most.
The Managing Director said such an undertaking
reflects strong organizational leadership at ZAF and reflects a clear vision to
bring together the defence forces, private sector, SMEs, sports enthusiasts,
and the broader public for a shared cause.
“As a longstanding financial services partner for
the Zambia Air Force, we have proudly supported the Red Arrows Rugby Club, for
the last 11 years, and through that partnership, we have witnessed firsthand
how sport can inspire young people, build character, and strengthen the
communities we serve. It is therefore only fitting that we extend that
partnership further through our support for this initiative,” he said.
Dr. Nwogu said as a responsible corporate citizen, Access
Bank recognizes that no single institution can achieve a K6 million fundraising
target alone, adding that collective action and strategic partnerships are
essential to delivering sustainable community transformation
He is confident that the Expo and Marathon will not
only achieve its financial target but will also leave a lasting and meaningful
impact on the beneficiary institutions and the nation at large.
Speaking at the same function, ZAF Air Commander Lt.
Gen. Oscar Nyoni thanked the Access Bank for the support, adding that the
targeted K6 million is ambitious but achievable.
“Every kwacha raised will be ploughed back into the local
community. It is a measurable commitment to social reasonability,” Lt. Gen
Nyoni said.
The
event is expected to attract over 100 exhibitors, 10,000 visitors, and 2,000
runners, demonstrating the scale and ambition of the initiative.
This is according to a statement issued by Kalumbu
Nyikosa-Kearns - Head, Corporate Communications and Brand Management at Access
Bank Zambia.
