ZAMBIAN APPOINTED UN RESIDENT COORDINATOR IN ANGOLA.
Ms. Amanda Khozi Mukwashi, a Zambian national, has been appointedas the United Nations Resident Coordinator in the Republic of Angola by the United Nations Secretary-General, António Guterres.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International
Cooperation extends sincere congratulations to Ms. Mukwashi’s on this
distinguished appointment, which stands as a testament to her exceptional
leadership, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to international
development, humanitarian service, and social justice.
Her well-deserved appointment not only reflects her
remarkable credentials and achievements but also underscores Zambia’s growing
contribution to global governance and multilateral cooperation under the
auspices of the United Nations.
This appointment is a source of national pride and
an inspiration to many Zambians, particularly women and young professionals
aspiring to serve at the highest levels of international leadership.
Ms. Mukwashi brings to this important position well
over three decades of extensive experience in international development and
humanitarian work. Most recently, she served as the United Nations Resident
Coordinator in the Kingdom of Lesotho, where she successfully led inter-agency
coordination efforts in support of national development priorities.
She has also held senior leadership positions within
the United Nations system, including with the United Nations Volunteers (UNV)
programme and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in Zambia, where she
made significant contributions to programmes on gender, population, and
development, among others.
The Ministry is confident that Ms. Mukwashi will
continue to demonstrate exemplary leadership in her new role in Angola, further
strengthening United Nations coordination and advancing sustainable
development, regional cooperation, and inclusive growth.
