SEVEN INJURED IN BUS ACCIDENT




December 30, 2025 – The Zambia Police Service in Lusaka has recorded a serious road traffic accident in which seven (7) passengers sustained injuries.


The incident occurred on December 30, 2025, around 04:50 hours, along the Great North Road near Ngwerere Roundabout.


The accident involved a Zhongtong bus bearing registration number BBC 4497, property of B.A. Logistics, which was being driven by Chitalu Gift, aged 31. The bus was heading towards the Chisamba direction.


There were seven (7) passengers on board who sustained various injuries. All the injured persons were rushed to Matero Level One Hospital, where they are currently receiving medical treatment.


Preliminary investigations indicate that the accident occurred after the driver lost control of the bus due to excessive speed. The bus initially hit a street light pole on the left side of the road before subsequently ramming into a nearby shop.


Investigations into the matter are ongoing.


The Zambia Police Service wishes to appeal to all motorists to observe road traffic regulations, avoid excessive speed, and always exercise caution to prevent road traffic accidents.
