SICHONE SAYS CHIPOLOPOLO FACED A TOUGH TEST AGAINST COMOROS.

Chipolopolo head coach Moses Sichone says Zambia faced a tough test against Comoros in their second AFCON 2025 group match last evening at King Mohammed V Stadium in Casablanca, which ended in a 0-0 stalemate.

“Comoros played as we expected. For now, we just have to focus on our next game against Morocco, who will enjoy home advantage. We need to prepare, plan, and aim to beat them,” Sichone said.

The coach admitted that Zambia lacked the killer punch in the first half, particularly on the wings, which he described as “flat.” He spoke to the players at halftime and saw improvements in the second half.

“Our system seemed to tire out striker Patson Daka in the first half, and some players did not come out as desired . But we saw some positive signs after the break."

And striker Jack Lahne remains optimistic despite the draw,

“Not all is lost. We can still progress mathematically. It was a tough match, but we keep pushing,” he said.

Defender Frankie Musonda echoed the sentiment, noting the game was rough but Zambia remains unbeaten so far:

“The game was tough, but it is good that Zambia is still unbeaten,” he said.

Zambia now sets their sights on a crucial encounter with Morocco, which will determine their progress in the tournament.

With Morocco drawing with with Mali on matchday two, the group standings are: Morocco with four points, Mali and Zambia at two points each while  Comoros sits at the bottom with one point, keeping the race for qualification still wide open.
