2025 CDF UTILIZATION AT 92% IN LUSAKA PROVINCE.
Over K341 million has been spent on Constituency Development Fund (CDF) projects in Lusaka Province from a total of over K368 million released as of 29 December 2025, representing 92% of utilization.
Lusaka Provincial Administration Principal Public
Relations Officer Logic Lukwanda says generally, this was progressive as
government released the money in good time, and money was spent on most of the
projects targeted.
Mr. Lukwanda says this funding has made all the six
local authorities of Luangwa, Rufunsa, Chongwe, Lusaka, Chilanga and Kafue in
the province very busy in 2025.
He has reiterated that all CDF projects are demand
driven meaning that projects are determined by the community.
Mr. Lukwanda says Projects identified by the
communities where mainly in health, education, infrastructure and security
infrastructure (police posts/stations).
He says some of the key highlights of the projects
include a mortuary at Rufunsa rural health center in Rufunsa district as people
previously relied on Chongwe district hospital and Mpanshya mission hospital,
market and ablution block at Feira market in Luangwa district which had none,
Lubansa primary school in Chongwe an area which had no school before, Mulangwa
primary school with mechanized modern water reticulation system in Kafue
district an area which had no school since independence.
Mr. Lukwanda says others include George compound
skills training center in Matero constituency in Lusaka, and a two storey
classroom block in Chawama constituency and another in Kaunda square of Munali
constituency as flagship projects.
He says additionally, the release of K3.2 million
for fuel to all constituencies for graders, tipper trucks, front end loaders
and compactors has helped local authorities rehabilitate roads which has made
it easier for the general public to access markets, health, education
facilities and general movements.
Mr. Lukwanda says the building of maternity annexes
suited with suitable furniture across the province has enabled expectant
mothers to deliver from health facilities and reduced maternal and neonatal
mortalities.
He says the delivery of over 60,000 desks in all the
six districts and increasing number of classroom blocks resulting in over 218
classrooms created, has responded well to the increment in enrolment of pupils
with 600,000 learners enrolled in schools in 2025 in Lusaka Province.
Mr. Lukwanda says with the CDF being increased to K40
million per constituency in 2026, he expects more progress on the development
agenda and we expect all our six local authorities to be busier.
