CONSTRUCTION OF ACROW BRIDGE AT MPHAMBA IN LUNDAZI SLIGHT DELAY.

The Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit (DMMU) says the construction of an Acrow Bridge at Mphamba Bridge in Lundazi District has experienced a slight delay.

In a statement issued to Kwithu FM, DMMU Senior Communications Officer Mathews Musukwa says the project, originally scheduled for completion yesterday, has been delayed due to persistent heavy rains in the area, which has significantly slowed construction progress.

MR. Musukwa says at present, approximately five metres of the bridge remains to be completed before it can be safely opened to the public.

The Mphamba Bridge was washed away following heavy rains experienced in the area on 26th December, 2025, which disrupted road connectivity and adversely affected the movement of people and goods.

Following the incident, the Vice President Mrs. Mutale Nalumango visited the area and directed that an Acrow Bridge be urgently constructed.

Mr. Musukwa has advised the public to exercise caution and use alternative routes where possible until the bridge is officially opened to traffic.
