ELIAS MATAMBO TOURS NEW SAKANIA BORDER

This morning, we toured the ongoing construction of Sakania Border Facility to check on the progress in Ndola on the Copperbelt Province.

This brand new Border Facility is being constructed by Avic International under Public Private Partnership (PPP) at a total cost of USD 18 million. We were impressed with the quality of work done so far .

We stated that our Republican President Mr. Hakainde Hichilema always emphasizes on three things: right cost, quality work, and delivering the project on time . We expressed our happiness that the contractor is walking the talk of our  Republican President Mr. Hakainde Hichilema on these benchmarks, and the project is likely to be completed ahead of schedule at an overall 54 per cent to the completion point in August this year .

We were also excited to learn that more than 600 local people under Chifubu Constituency have been employed, and more will be employed once the project is completed .

We further highlighted that the new modern Sakania Border Facility will enhance safety, improve trade between Zambia and Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), improve the free flow of traffic, and quicken the movement of goods within the Copperbelt and beyond boarders.

The Sakania Border Facility will be able to accommodate more than 200 trucks as well as house facilities such as banks, shops, police posts, and housing units for workers in different departments . The road between Hellcrest in Ndola up to Sakania is also  100 percent completed, and the construction of the road from Sakania Border Facility to Mufulira is on course.

We assured the contractor AVIC International that as Provincial Administration, we will continue supporting all the ongoing construction of facilities in all sectors, and our doors remain open .

Hon Elisha Matambo

Copperbelt Province Minister
