GOVERNMENT LAUNCHES MENSTRUAL CAMPAIGN

Government has officially launched the Her Health, Her Journey, Her Walk menstrual health campaign, an initiative aimed at securing dignity, equality and opportunities for every girl and woman.

The campaign seeks to address challenges surrounding menstrual health and ensure that women and girls are able to participate fully in education, work and society without discrimination.

Speaking during the launch, Ministry of Information and Media Permanent Secretary Thabo Kawana described menstrual health as not only a personal matter but a public health, education, environmental and human rights issue.

And Waste Mat Zambia Chief Executive Officer Mwinji Nankamba said their mission is to reach a target of 100,000 kits for the girl child and women by May 2027.

Meanwhile, former First Lady Thandiwe Banda, who also spoke at the event, launched the First Lady Hamper of Hope, described as a shield of dignity for girls and women.

Mrs Banda urged the Ministry of Education to adopt a menstrual management toolkit to ensure that learners have access to accurate information and essential resources in schools.
