PRESIDENT HICHILEMA TO OPEN LUAPULA PROVINCE INVESTMENT EXPO IN MANSA IN APRIL.
President Hakainde Hichilema will open the Luapula Province Investment Expo in April this year, with Mansa confirmed as the host city.
The high-profile event will take place at Kaole
Stadium and is expected to be officiated by Republican President Mr. Hakainde
Hichilema, underscoring Government’s commitment to accelerating provincial
economic development.
Luapula Province Minister Eng. Nason Musonda has
disclosed that the Investment Expo is a strategic platform aimed at connecting
both local and international investors to Luapula Province while unlocking the
vast economic potential of the region.
The Minister stated that the Expo aligns with the
New Dawn Administration’s agenda of economic diversification, private
sector-led growth, and balanced national development across all provinces.
He explained that the Expo will showcase investment
opportunities across key growth sectors, including mining, tourism, energy,
agriculture, fisheries and livestock, education, and value addition, with the
objective of repositioning Luapula Province as a competitive and attractive
investment destination.
Eng. Musonda noted that hosting the Investment Expo
in Luapula is a deliberate and timely intervention, particularly in light of
the Province’s abundant natural resources, extensive water bodies, fertile
land, and youthful population.
He observed that it remains unacceptable for a
Province with such immense potential to lag behind in industrialisation and
large-scale investment, adding that Government is determined to change this
narrative under the leadership of Republican President Mr. Hakainde Hichilema.
The Investment Expo is expected to stimulate
economic activity, attract capital inflows, encourage technology transfer,
enhance infrastructure development, create sustainable employment
opportunities, and promote value addition to locally produced goods. It will
also expand market access for local entrepreneurs and small-scale producers.
The Expo will further provide a platform for
Government institutions, traditional leaders, the private sector, and
cooperating partners to engage directly with investors and present bankable
projects ready for implementation.
The Minister has since called on all stakeholders
across the Province to rise above political differences and support the
Investment Expo, describing it as a collective opportunity to unlock
development, reduce poverty, and improve livelihoods for the people of Luapula.
The Expo will also showcase the hydro power
generation of Luapula river through the Mumbotuta falls with the potential to
generate 1000 Megawatts and the Kalungwishi river hydro generation potential of
300 Megawatts in Kawambwa district among others.
The Luapula Province Investment Expo marks a
critical step in transforming the Province into a vibrant economic hub and
reaffirms the Government’s commitment to ensuring that no region is left behind
in Zambia’s development agenda.
