UPND NATIONAL YOUTH CHAIRMAN COMMENDS PARTY MEMBERS IN CHAWAMA

UPND National Youth Chairman Gilbert Liswaniso has commended all those who did their best and played their part in the just-past by-election in Chawama.

In the January 15 By Election FDD Candidate Bright Nundwe emerged as a winner.

Commenting on the outcome, Liswaniso said this is a foundation for 2026 and a learning curve for the party.

"I would like to thank the party president, Mr Hakainde Hichilema, for the support in Chawama; the party chairman, Mr Colins Maoma; the party SG, Mr Batuke Imenda; the campaign team led by Isaac Zulu; the provincial leadership; Mr Obvious Mwaliteta; Anderson Banda; Godfrey Chitanga; Grant Zimba; and all ward, branch, and polling station management committees". Liswaniso said

He added"We are not perfect. We may have injured and may have stepped on your feet, but we have an open-door policy. Let’s criticise positively to build and appreciate the environment created by the leadership of the UPND."

He said the focus should be on what the party is learning from this.

Liswaniso said this was a pilot project for UPND, the leadership in Lusaka, and those from other provinces who led their support.

"Our success is the peace and freedom our people enjoyed during this campaign and after it. Indeed, democracy has reigned over everything" He said

He continues"Ours is to congratulate the FDD candidate for achieving victories in a democratic environment"

Liswaniso said Chawama gives room for all the UPND leaders to reflect and do a self-introspection on where things could have gone wrong.

He stares"We know and understand that no one can associate themselves with a loss, but we take the blame, for we understand the impact of losing and winning"
