UPNF IN NORTHERN PROVINCE MOURNS ABASANO BA MFUMU

The United Party for National Development (UPND) in Northern Province has learnt with deep sorrow and profound sadness of the untimely passing of Abasano ba Mfumu, the wife to His Royal Highness Paramount Chief Chitimukulu Kanyanta Manga II, who passed away at Kasama General Hospital following a Road Traffic Accident.

Provincial Chairman Nathan Ilunga said the UPND leadership, structures, and membership in Northern Province, has joined President Hakainde Hichilema and the entire nation in mourning the passing of Abasano ba Mfumu.

Mr. Ilunga has extended the Party's condolences to His Royal Highness the Paramount Chief Chitimukulu Kanyanta Manga II, the Royal Family, the Bemba Royal Establishment, and the people of Bembaland during this period of deep grief.

He said Abasano ba Mfumu was not only a devoted wife to the Paramount Chief but also a mother to Bembaland, whose life embodied humility, dignity, unity, and service.

Mr. Ilunga said the deceased played a quiet yet influential role in supporting traditional leadership and nurturing social harmony among the Bemba people.

He said in accordance with Bemba tradition and custom, the passing of a woman of her standing calls for solemn and respectful mourning.

Mr. Ilunga said as a mother of the land, she should be mourned with unity, cultural discipline, prayer, and strict observance of traditional protocols as guided by the Royal Establishment.

He said this is a time for collective reflection, solidarity, and support for the Royal Family.

Mt. Ilunga said the UPND Northern Province recognises and deeply values the role played by traditional leaders and their families in preserving Zambia’s cultural heritage and promoting peace and cohesion.

He said the loss of Abasano ba Mfumu is therefore a loss not only to the Royal Family, but to Northern Province and the nation at large.

He said "we pray that the Almighty God grants strength, comfort, and consolation to His Royal Highness, the Royal Family, and all those mourning this great loss. May the soul of Abasano ba Mfumu rest in eternal peace".
