ZAMBIAN TOURISM STUDENTS IN KENYAN
The Zambia High Commission in the Republic of Kenya has welcomed Zambian students currently pursuing studies at Utalii College (Kenya Utalii College) under the Tourism and Hospitality Scholarship Programme.
Speaking during an engagement with the students, His Excellency Mr. Alfred Musemuna, Zambia’s High Commissioner to the Republic of Kenya, congratulated the beneficiaries on being selected for the highly competitive scholarship.
He emphasized that the opportunity places them among a privileged group of young Zambians entrusted with the responsibility of acquiring skills critical to national development.
He urged the students to remain focused, disciplined, and committed to excellence throughout their training. He reminded them that they are ambassadors of Zambia and of the Government, representing the country not only at Utalii College but also within the Republic of Kenya. He encouraged them to uphold good conduct, respect institutional rules, and demonstrate professionalism at all times.
Mr. Musemuna further noted that strong academic performance and positive testimonials from the institution would play a key role in motivating continued and expanded government support for similar programmes in the future, aimed at strengthening Zambia’s skills base.
The High Commissioner reaffirmed the High Commission’s commitment to supporting the students throughout their period of training and expressed confidence that the full cohort of twenty (20) students will soon be in place.
The students reported for their studies in September 2025 and are undertaking various courses in tourism and hospitality management. Currently, nine (9) students are enrolled and actively attending classes, while arrangements are underway for the remaining students to join, in line with the original programme design.
The Tourism and Hospitality Scholarship Programme is an initiative of the Zambia High Commission in Nairobi, designed to strengthen Zambia’s human resource capacity in the tourism and hospitality sector through strategic regional training partnerships.
The programme is implemented with the support and cooperation of the Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Zambia and the Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Kenya. The programme is expected to contribute meaningfully to the growth and competitiveness of Zambia’s tourism industry upon the students’ completion of their studies.
This is according to a statement issued by Zambia High Commission in Nairobi, Kenya.
