7 VEHICLES INTERCEPT FOR TRANSIT FRAUD IN KAPIRI MPOSHI
The Zambia revenue authority (ZRA) has intercepted seven vehicles in kapiri mposhi for transit fraud with a revenue loss of over k263,000.
ZRA Corporate communications manager oliver nzala oliver nzala says the vehicles intercepted and seized include a toyota vanguard, mark x, probox, wish, suzuki splash and a mazda cx-5.
Mr. Nzala says the vehicles were purportedly transiting to the democratic republic of congo (DRC) through Mokambo border post using fake customs clearance documents.
He says a verification of the documents presented revealed they were falsified and belong to a completely different consignment that include sulphur, flexible intermediate bulk containers and other motor vehicles.
Mr. Nzala says the smuggling of the vehicles was undertaken by avoiding ZRA a checkpoints using illegal and unauthorized routes to evade duties and taxes.
He says the Zambia revenue authority is on high alert to curtail all forms of smuggling to ensure revenue is collected on behalf of the government of the republic of Zambia.
