MKANDAWIRE PRIMARY SCHOOL GETS NEW LABORATORY
For years, science lessons at Mkandawire Combined School were confined to crowded classrooms and chalk-dusted blackboards, with little room for practical exploration.
That long-standing challenge has shifted dramatically following the commissioning of a state-of-the-art laboratory valued at K1.4 million, signalling a new era for science education in Kabwata Constituency, constructed using the Constituency Development Fund (CDF).
Officiating the handover ceremony, Kabwata Member of Parliament Hon. Andrew Tayengwa described the project as a practical demonstration of development in action.
He said Kabwata constituency has so far successfully completed over 70 impactful community projects under CDF, with education emerging as a top priority.
Mr. Tayengwa cautioned that such valuable infrastructure must be protected and well managed, urging school authorities to maintain the laboratory diligently so that it continues to serve learners for generations.
And Kabwata CDF Committee Chairperson, Mr. Chilekwa Munkonge, said the laboratory is a powerful symbol of accountable leadership and effective planning.
He noted that the project reflects how public resources can bring tangible change to learning environments.
Mkandawire Secondary School Headteacher, Ms. Simutowe, expressed deep appreciation to the Government for its transformative education policies.
She explained that the new laboratory will revolutionise the teaching of science, allowing learners to move from abstract theory to hands-on experiments.
Representing the District Education Board Secretary, Dr. Mundiya Kaliminwa described the facility as a timely and strategic investment in the district’s education sector.
She said the facility will strengthen science delivery and inspire learner interest in scientific fields.
