DEC HAS SEIZED UD$20,200 FROM THREE SUSPECTS

 


The Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) in Lusaka Province, has formally charged and arrested three persons in connection with the offence of Possession of Counterfeit Currency amounting to UD$20,200.

DEC Public Relations Officer Allan Tamba has identified the three suspects as Stars Mweene aged 43, a resident of Kalibopa area in Mazabuka District in Southern Province, Sam Sinyangwe, aged 63 of Makeni Villa in Chilanga District and Kalolo Julius, aged 38 of Libala South in of Lusaka.

Mr. Tamba said suspects have since been detained in lawful custody and will appear in Court soon.

Meanwhile, a joint investigations team comprising officers from the DEC, the Zambia Police Service,and other security agencies, has conducted an operation in Livingstone District in Southern Province; leading to the arrest of two persons identified as Andrew Chibuye, an International Truck Driver, and MabvutoTembo, a co– driver to Chibuye.

Mr. Tamba says the two have been arrested in connection with the offence of Unlawful Importation of 2,089 bottles of Benylin with codeine which were found concealed in two modified compartments attached to the Chassis of a truck and trailer driven from South Africa and transiting into Zambia via the Victoria Falls Border in Livingstone.
