NORTHERN PROVINCE PS HANDS OVER MOTORBIKES TO BOOST SERVICE DELIVERY
In an effort to enhance service delivery in far-flung areas of Northern Province, the Government has handed over 12 motorbikes to the Ministry of Community Development. The motorbikes will cater to all the 12 districts in the province.
Outgoing Northern Province Permanent Secretary, Mr. Bernard Mpundu, officially handed over the motorbikes to the department.
Mr. Mpundu stated that the motorbikes are intended to improve access to communities that are difficult to reach using conventional vehicles.
“These motorbikes will significantly improve our ability to reach remote communities and ensure that no citizen is left behind in accessing essential social services,” he said.
He emphasized the critical role of the ministry in the province, noting that a number of citizens have benefited from various government programmes such as the Social Cash Transfer, which has supported over 144,000 vulnerable individuals across all districts.
Mr. Mpundu further cautioned against the misuse of the motorbikes, stressing that their procurement was funded using public resources and must therefore be used responsibly.
Meanwhile, Provincial Community Development Officer, Mary Namwinga assured that the motorbikes will be used for their intended purpose.
She expressed happiness at the Government’s swift response in facilitating the acquisition of the motorbikes to enhance service delivery.
This is according to a statement issued by Sandra Mulenga Principal Public Relations Officer for Northern Province.
