PRESIDENT HAKAINDE HICHILEMA EXPECTED IN NAKONDE ON THURSDAY

Muchinga Province Minister Njavwa Simutowe says President Hakainde Hichilema, will pay a working visit to Nakonde District on Thursday, 19th March, 2026.

Mr. Simutowe says the visit is historic, as the head of state will officially commission the Nakonde One Stop Border Post (OSBP). This flagship project is a testament to the New Dawn Government’s commitment to enhancing regional trade, improving efficiency at  borders, and fostering economic growth between Zambia and the United Republic of Tanzania.

He said the commissioning of this facility marks a significant milestone in the decentralization agenda and trade facilitation efforts by the New Dawn Administration.

Mr. Simutowe who is Mbala Member of Parliament says the Nakonde One Stop Border Post is expected to drastically reduce the time and cost of doing business at this crucial entry point, thereby boosting commerce and strengthening the ties between The Republic of Tanzania and Zambia.

He said "on behalf of the people of Muchinga Province, I wish to extend our deepest gratitude to His Excellency Mr. Hakainde Hichilema for his unwavering commitment to the development of our province. We are greatly honoured by his decision to commission this project personally, demonstrating his dedication to bringing development closer to the people."

He said the president is scheduled to arrive in Nakonde on Thursday, 19th March 2026.

Mr. Simutowe says the President will then proceed to the Nakonde border site to undertake the official commissioning.

He said " I call upon all residents of Muchinga Province, particularly the people of Nakonde, to come out in large numbers to accord His Excellency the Republican President a warm and peaceful welcome. Let us maintain the spirit of unity, peace, and development that characterizes our province."
