GROUND BREAKING OF K1.6 BILLION 103 KM OF MUKUTUMA-LUMPUMA ROAD IN LUFWANYAMA

April 14,2026

Today, we witnessed a historical groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the Lumpuma-Mukutuma road to tarmac standard in Lufwanyama District on the Copperbelt.

The  New Dawn Government, under the leadership of Republican President Mr Hakainde Hichilema, has  remained resolute in its commitment to ensuring that development reaches every corner of this without segregation and   without leaving anyone behind.

We stated that the construction of long awaited Lumpuma- Mukutuma road will bring immense and social benefits to Lufwanyama and beyond.

We stressed that this road will greatly improve connectivity within the  district and link communities to major economic centres. The road will also stimulate agricultural growth, attract, both local and foreign investors, improve access to social services  such as schools, clinics, hospitals and create employment opportunities both directly and indirect during construction and after completion.

We thank our Republican President Mr Hakainde Hichilema for bringing infrastructure development to the people of Lufwanyama and beyond.  Under him, we have seen massive achievements in road infrastructure development across the province, including rural areas.

We urged Road Development Agency (RDA) and the contractor to employ local people of Lufwanyama District

The 103 km Lumpuma Mukutuma road project will be carried out by China Jiangsu Construction Company at the total cost of K1.6 billion  and expected to be completed within 30 months.

Hon Elisha Matambo
