Saturday 11th April, 2026

Government has stepped up road maintenance works in Luapula Province ahead of the Luapula Investment Expo 2026 set for 20th–24th April in Mansa, to be graced by President Hakainde Hichilema.

Speaking when he inspected the road works on Friday, 10th April, Luapula Province Minister Eng. Nason Musonda said key routes, including the Pedicle Road and the Mansa–Samfya Road, are being attended to in readiness for increased traffic, with delegates expected to start arriving as early as 17th April.

He said additional equipment will be deployed, with support from the Zambia National Service to speed up works, especially on critical sections.

Provincial Roads Engineer Eng. Wanzi Zulu said short-term repairs are underway, with long-term plans to rehabilitate about 40 kilometres once funding is secured.

Meanwhile, speaking earlier at the site, Sable Construction Subcontractor Manager Eng. Mokaddes Hossain said maintenance works covering 11 kilometres on the Pedicle Road are progressing well and are expected to be completed next week, paving way for major rehabilitation works once designs are finalised.

The Expo, to be held at Kaole Stadium under the theme “Unlocking Luapula’s Potential Investment Opportunities for Sustainable Economic Growth,” is expected to attract both local and international investors.

This is according to a statement issued by Luapula Province Principal Public Relations Officer Emmanuel Maseko.
