SPORTS MINISTER PARTICIPATES IN KK MARATHON
Thousands of people this morning took part in the 2026 edition of the Kenneth Kaunda Marathon in Lusaka, as part of activities to remember Zambia’s founding father, Dr. Kenneth Kaunda.
The annual event continues to celebrate his legacy of unity, resilience and service to the nation, while promoting healthy living among citizens.
Participants from various sectors, including professional athletes, fitness enthusiasts, government officials and members of the public, turned up in large numbers, creating a vibrant and energetic atmosphere. The marathon featured different race categories, allowing people of all ages and fitness levels to participate.
Minister of Youth, Sport and Arts, Honourable Elvis C. Nkandu, MP, who was accompanied by his Permanent Secretary Mr. Kangwa Chileshe and other ministry officials, also took part in the marathon.
The Kenneth Kaunda Marathon has become an important fixture on Zambia’s sporting calendar, not only honouring the country’s first President but also fostering national unity and encouraging community participation through sport.
This is according to a statement issued by Ministry of Youth, Sports and Arts Principal Public Relations Officer Nchimunya Ng'andu.
