Zambia Signs Host Country Agreement with Global Green Growth Institute

Zambia has signed a Host Country Agreement (HCA) with the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), formalizing GGGI’s legal status in Zambia and reinforcing the shared commitment of both parties to advancing climate action and inclusive green growth.

Zambia’s Ambassador to the Republic of Korea, Andrew Banda, signed on behalf of the country while Mr. Sanghyup Kim, GGGI Executive Director signed on behalf of the institute.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Ambassador Banda emphasized that the partnership will strengthen Zambia’s capacity to achieve sustainable economic growth while safeguarding the environment for future generations.

He noted that the agreement was not only a commitment but also a call to action, stressing that its success would depend on effective implementation and strong collaboration among all stakeholders.

He added that Zambia stood ready to work closely with GGGI to ensure tangible results that would improve the lives of its people.

Mr. Kim noted that the agreement would create an opportunity to accelerate green growth, promote country-led solutions, and support Zambia’s transition to a low-carbon economy.

He further underscored that the HCA strengthens the institutional framework for collaboration, enabling Zambia to more effectively implement its climate and development priorities, including its Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs).
