Lusaka, Zambia – 13th May 2026
The Ministry of Youth, Sport and Arts has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Hygeia Global University College aimed at providing 20 fully funded tuition scholarships to deserving Zambian youths.
Speaking during the signing ceremony, Minister of Youth, Sport and Arts Hon. Elvis C. Nkandu said the partnership demonstrates government’s commitment to ensuring that no young person is left behind in accessing education and opportunities for personal development.
The Minister stated that the initiative is in line with the Eighth National Development Plan (8NDP), which prioritises youth empowerment, skills development and job creation as key drivers of national development.
He commended Hygeia Global University College for taking a leading role in supporting government’s efforts to expand access to tertiary education for young people.
“This partnership is a clear demonstration that education remains one of the most powerful tools for transforming lives and building a productive nation,” Hon. Nkandu said.
The scholarships will cover 100 percent tuition in accredited programmes under Business and Management, Education, Health Programmes, and Computer and ICT.
And speaking at the same event, Principal of Hygeia Global University College Dr. Ignatius E. Chingangu said the institution was proud to partner with government in empowering youths through education.
Dr. Chingangu noted that many talented young people fail to pursue higher education due to financial limitations, adding that the scholarship initiative seeks to bridge that gap and create opportunities for deserving students.
He described the scholarships as an investment in Zambia’s future leaders, innovators and professionals.
