TOURISM PS IN DIRBAN FOR AFRICA TRAVEL INDABA




Durban, South Africa – Monday, 11th May 2026


Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism, Mr. Evans Muhanga, has arrived in Durban, South Africa, ahead of the official opening of the 2026 Africa’s Travel Indaba, one of the continent’s premier tourism trade exhibitions.


Mr. Muhanga is leading Zambia’s delegation to the international tourism showcase, which brings together tourism stakeholders, investors, exhibitors, hosted buyers and media practitioners from across the globe to promote Africa as a preferred tourism destination.


Speaking upon arrival, Mr. Muhanga said Zambia’s participation at the Indaba presents an important opportunity to market the country’s diverse tourism products, strengthen partnerships and attract investment into the tourism sector.


“Zambia remains committed to positioning itself as a competitive and sustainable tourism destination in Africa. Our participation at Africa’s Travel Indaba provides a strategic platform to showcase the country’s rich natural heritage, culture, wildlife and investment opportunities to the international market,” said Mr. Muhanga.


The Permanent Secretary further noted that Zambia’s presence at the Indaba aligns with Government’s broader agenda of growing the tourism sector as a key driver of economic development, job creation and foreign exchange earnings.


During the event, the Zambian delegation is expected to engage in business-to-business meetings, destination marketing activities and networking sessions aimed at enhancing the country’s visibility on the global tourism market.


Africa’s Travel Indaba is hosted annually in Durban, South Africa, and is regarded as one of the largest tourism marketing events on the African continent.
